Agency for the Polices for persons with disabilitiesThe Agency for the Policies for persons with disabilities takes care of all persons with special needs up to the age of 65 who live in the Municipality of Parma; after the attainment of such age the persons will be looked after by the Service for Elderly People within the social Sector. School Assistance Service The Service addresses those pupils/students with serious physical, mental or sensorial deficit who live in the Municipality of Parma and are enrolled in State and officially recognised nursery schools, and in compulsory secondary schools. The aim is the inclusion and integration of persons with serious disabilities in schools, through adequate supports and the allocation of trained staff. Job Engagement Service The Service refers to people with mental-physical and /or sensorial deficit with actual difficulty in finding a job both autonomously and through compulsory employment. The Service plan and carries out path of social and occupational integration through the engagement in particularly sensitive working environments. Home Care Service Home Assistance Service It is mainly a welfare Service, aiming to support the crucial moments of the day (getting up, personal hygiene, weekly bath etc.) for those people with disabilities overburdened by personal, social, financial and family issues. The assistance is carried out by the staff of cooperatives that are accredited by the Municipality of Parma. The project “At home with support”, addresses those families with disabled children from age 0 to 14, with the aim to favour a positive process of attachment to the kids even in case of serious deficit so as to partially relieve the family from onerous care commitments. Cooperatives to promote job engagement Typology of engagement performed when the person with disabilities needs a context “project” in which he/she can test himself/herself before entering the world of work with “work experience grants”, or when the social and care needs are high and specific reinforcement/stimuli are necessary. The Service will provide for the residential, semi residential and temporary reception, so as to relieve the families from the care tasks, both in Rehabilitation Centres and in Groups Apartment or protected Facilities suitable for disabled people. Transportation Through the Minibus-Pollicino Service and the convention with the Public Assistance, the “door to door” Transportation Service is guaranteed. Electric Scooters |

Project
To overcome prejudices and stereotypes, to enhance experiences and best practices, to spread information through concrete initiatives on the territory in order to allow for a full participation of the people with disabilities. This is the goal of the project “Disability and Social Exclusion” (DSE) co-financed by the European Commission. Through territorial and communication plans, the programme aims at carrying out a real cultural change for the overcoming of discriminatory behaviours towards people with disabilities, that are still widespread in our country.
