The disabled and the right to work

The cost of rare diseases

To assist a rare disease affected radically change the life of the families. The event of the disease in the 90% of cases weighs in the working activity of father and mother. The 17% of the sample live close to a referring clinical centre, while the 9% still don’t know to which centre can refer and 20% which has not a local centre to which refer. Despite this, the 92% declares to be satisfied. All of this has been revealed by a pilot study presented by Isfol and conducted by IAS (institute for social affairs) together with the Italian Federation for rare Diseases, Uniamo-FIMR Onlus, Orphanet-Italia and Farmindustria to reveal assistential needs and social costs of these patients and their families studying appropriated measures.

International day of persons with disabilities

On December, the 3rd for the International day of persons with disabilities will take place in Rome the Conference “Culture and disability: good practices on the international right, public administration and companies” . The event has been organized by the Central State Archivium wit the Municipality of Roma XI and JPAssociation. It will be a moment to discuss on an important issue and to highlight how through good practices, the institutions can allow the people with disabilities ’integration both in social than in cultural life.

A prize for the ASP Catania

In Catania, Friday the 3rd December, The Catania city, ASP n.3 (the regional health agency) will receive the prize “Flavio Cocanari: disability as a provoke-action for the society” for its sector of network actions. The event will coincide with the international day for people with disability. .

An year fighting poverty and social exclusion

On Monday 13 December 2010 from 9.30 until 18.45 will take place in Milan , at the Sleeper in viale Outles 69, the final event f the European year against poverty. The event wants to be the moment for a national and communitary balance of the European year and to follow with the actions put in practice drawing the future perspective in light of the new European Strategy 2020 and of 2011 “European year for volunteering promoting active citizenship”. The program of the day will see the development of 3 study workshops thematic with the participation of experts, no-profit associations and volunteering.

The service of the socio-health assistant was born in july 2004 on proposal of the Ministry of health, the Region of Lombardy Higher Health Institute The aim of the project is to catch espresse and not-expressed needs by the weaker elderly people which live in unconfortable areas of Milan metropolitan area areas. Project

To overcome prejudices and stereotypes, to enhance experiences and best practices, to spread information through concrete initiatives on the territory in order to allow for a full participation of the people with disabilities. This is the goal of the project “Disability and Social Exclusion” (DSE) co-financed by the European Commission. Through territorial and communication plans, the programme aims at carrying out a real cultural change for the overcoming of discriminatory behaviours towards people with disabilities, that are still widespread in our country.
