IAS hosts a seminar on Poverty and FamiliesPolicies to fight social exclusion, strategies for action and support to the families, actions for the prevention and struggle against poverty and the role of institutions in this field, the market and the third sector, these are the topics tackled during the seond of a series of four seminars on social discrimination in the Italian cities. "Poverty and Families" was hosted by the Institute for Social Affairs on May 27 2010. This is a series of meetings entitled Local Strategies to fight poverty: comparison of cities, organized in the framework of the European Year for Combating Povert and Social Exclusion by Anci with Cittalia Foundation - Anci Researches (Centre for Researches of Italian Cities and municipalities), in collaboration with the Welfare Ministry with the aim to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and the mutual learning between the different local realities of the country. |

The service of the socio-health assistant was born in july 2004 on proposal of the Ministry of health, the Region of Lombardy Higher Health Institute The aim of the project is to catch espresse and not-expressed needs by the weaker elderly people which live in unconfortable areas of Milan metropolitan area areas. Project
To overcome prejudices and stereotypes, to enhance experiences and best practices, to spread information through concrete initiatives on the territory in order to allow for a full participation of the people with disabilities. This is the goal of the project “Disability and Social Exclusion” (DSE) co-financed by the European Commission. Through territorial and communication plans, the programme aims at carrying out a real cultural change for the overcoming of discriminatory behaviours towards people with disabilities, that are still widespread in our country.
